Tourist in my own Town: Rock Point Provincal Park

Our annual summer camping trip has inspired another Tourist in my own town post. CanadianTravelBugs started this idea. It’s well worth the click to go read her tales from China.

My home province of Ontario has so much to offer. Our beautiful land and camping is just one of many “must see / do” here.

Before I show you why I love this park, which is only a short distance from my home I want to give you some info … a foundation for your ponderings.

• Exposed fossils of a coral reef dating back to over 350 million years embedded in limestone shelf along the beach
• Viewing platform above sand dunes
• 2 km hiking trail
• 1 km of sandy beach
• Fall monarch butterfly migration
• Bird banding station and viewing opportunities

My family has been enjoying this beautiful park for many years. It’s been awesome to see the park develop from when I went with my parents to now, when I bring my kids.

        We went to the glasses market yesterday and I didn’t have a chance to do my post 😦 So maybe it will have to wait ’til the weekend. Busy week with Parents Night and going back to get my glasses.
