Ahhh this morning the sun is out. We’ve been lucky to see it a few times this past week. It’s been a long winter this year. (I know, that’s not news…myself and many others have gone on and on about it!!)
I’ve been hearing this song by the Beatles in my head so I thought I’d share it..while I ponder the wonders of the sun!
I was chatting with a friend saying how I must be old..the weather is a repeated topic of conversation for me. LOL So this “old” lady is pondering the sunshine today.
Days like today I almost feel like pushing my cats out of the ‘sun spot’ and napping like they do.
But WHY does the sun make us feel better? Why does the weather effect our mood? A quick search on the net and you can find all sorts of stories, some with scientific research, all saying that the sun makes us feel good. They talk about SAD (Seasonal affective disorder) and skin cancer. But today I’m just happy to see the sun and to feel it’s warmth through the window! (burr it’s still cold outside). I realized that I didn’t want, or need, all the facts. I’m just happy that the sun is out and it will be with me most of my day.
That’s what it comes down to. You don’t need to know why. Just be happy. I wish you enough.
“As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful. They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness — just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and a cool breeze when the day is warm.”
