Patchwork of Hygge ~ Remembering past springs

While our annual trip is a few months away, this is the time of year that we start looking forward to it. Our trip to Allegany has always been a relaxing family time. A time full of late fireside nights and slow quiet mornings. Days filled with a wonderful mix of quiet and laughter and good food.

We always seem to plan our activities around what food we want to eat. Our favourite meal is grilled veggies and steak cooked over the camp fire. Which means, we need to be around the cabin all afternoon to get a fire with lots of hot coals. That day is usually filled with games and splashing in the near-by creek.

Days like this are definitely some of the good things in life! Good food, days full of family time all while surrounded by the trees, creek, and wildlife.

“I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, “This is what it is to be happy.”
― Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar

What hygge moments are you looking forward to this year? I’d love to hear about them. Or perhaps you have a hygge moment from this month that you’d like to share?

See you next month for another piece of my Hygge Patchwork.

Hygge translates roughly to ‘cosiness’. “In essence, hygge means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. The warm glow of candlelight is hygge. Friends and family – that’s hygge too.” [source:]
