Grateful for a cookie.

This week a boy gave me his cookie.

Normally I’d politely refuse to take food from the kids. Especially this family as I know they don’t have much. However, this cookie was more than ‘just a cookie’.

Last week, maybe the week before I mentioned in passing to this boy that I like the crunchy plain oatmeal cookies with my tea. I often chat with the kids about their food (I’m a lunchtime supervisor.) so I didn’t think anything of this. I was so touched that this boy remembered and gave me his last cookie. He doesn’t often get treats.

How could I refuse such a gift?

I am so grateful for this small cookie and the kindness this boy showed.

Colline was grateful for her long weekend.

What are you grateful for this week?

“As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful. They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness — just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and a cool breeze when the day is warm.”
