One of my favourite signs is from a lookout over the Grand Canyon.  It simply says, ONE MINUTE. DON’T READ. DON’T TALK. NO PHOTOS. JUST LOOK…..AND SEE. It is something that I hope you will do often when you visit our parks or other natural areas in Ontario.  But how about this variation? TWO MINUTES. … Continue reading Soundscapes from across Ontario

Out of this World… part 2 (a step back)

Yesterday I shared some photos of some familiar creatures for this week’s WordPress photo challenge.

Just in case you didn’t guess what the subject of the photos was…

This weekend we visited the Butterfly Conservatory in the Niagara Parks Commission.

I could spend days in there! So relaxing and stunningly beautiful. The air is full of softly fluttering wings of every colour under the sun! It’s fun to stroll around carefully … Watch your step the butterflies land on the path!!… watching these creatures float and glide. It’s magical how they fly.

It feels like you’ve been given a bit of magic when they choose you to perch upon!

Out of our World?

This weekend we visited a world-known place, that is ‘in our backyard’. Thousands visit this attraction each year. While this weekend was on the warm side for our winter, it wasn’t as warm as this place.

I love visiting here. It’s amazing how such tiny, delicate creatures can make you feel small.

What’s equally amazing is the closer you look the less familiar/ less ‘of this world’ these creatures get!

I think you know what the subject of my photos is…

But I’ll wait until tomorrow to post a few other photos that will show you if you haven’t guessed!

Focus: WP Photo Challenge

I’ve always been fascinated with the determination and focus that bees have. They spend their lives collecting pollen from the flowers in their area…even the ones that are too small to hold their weight!

I’m still not sure which photo I like best. The cropped photo, focusing on the bee or the one with the out-of-focus background. (taken with Asus Zenphone 3 Laser phone)
