A piece of Patchwork Ponderings.

Throwback Thursday~So soft pussywillows .. Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge B&W

I was out investigating my garden, looking down at the new green sprouts of my daffodils when I ran into this branch. So it literally ‘hit me’ that I needed to take a photo of these beautiful pussy-willows. 😉

It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade. ~Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

I love spring anywhere, but if I could choose I would always greet it in a garden. ~Ruth Stout

Path Taken ~ WP Photo Challenge

A walk through the wooded area and out through the field. It was another hot day in August so we went for a walk rock-point-provincial-parkabove Rock Point Provincial Park‘s beach.

I will always love this walk, the plant life and those who call Rock Point home. I chase the butterflies and “wishes” (seeds) with my camera now but I still watch them with the wonder of a child.

My surprise this particular walk was the size of this meadow lady. I was well back and zooming in with my phone’s camera. She still seems too big for me!

For this week’s challenge, show us something that surprised you on “the road taken.” It could be a heritage building in your city or town as seen from a new-to-you angle, a yummy meal on a road trip detour, or the penny you found on a casual stroll. (I still love to find pennies — always a small thrill!) This challenge is wide open — show us the excitement, surprise, wonder, or amazement of your “road taken.”

Shine ~ WP Weekly Photo Challenge

Kindly visit the WordPress photo challenge page for more photos of what shines in our lives.

We’re lucky to enjoy the Winter Festival of Lights along the Niagara Parkway every year. It is it’s most magical when there’s snow on the ground. The lights shine a little brighter in the darkness then.

This years displays will shine November 19 – January 31 2017 along the Niagara Parkway in Niagara Falls Ontario.

Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge: Colourful Choice

We had a wonderful weekend, celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. One of the highlights was a visit to Niagara on the Lake, Ontario. One of my favourite places to visit. I’m sure I’ll be sharing more about NotL since it’s full of Canadian history and we’re about to start a year long celebration for Canada’s 150th.

As we were walking toward the Shaw Theatre to pick up our tickets for the evenings performance of Alice in Wonderland this whimsical wind catcher caught my eye. It was fun and beautiful and I became ‘Curiouser and curiouser’.

When I was playing with one of the photos I used the crystalline effect. I enjoyed the colour and the feel of the photo seems to match the unusual feel of Wonderland 😉

Kindly take a moment to visit Lens and Pens by Sally to see what she and other challengers have shared this week.

Here’s a peek of the wind catcher / sculpture.

It’s found at the Shaw Club Hotel & Spa.

Sadly I didn’t see the artists name.
